Preview → Topic → Detail → Action → Retell
VOA Learning English.
BBC Learning English هم در ۲۰۲۶ هنوز Learning English from the News منتشر میکنه. این نوع content برای وقتی خوبه که learner-news سادهتر دیگه زیادی راحت شده و میخوای vocabulary و headline language پیچیدهتر رو تحمل کنی. BBC Learning English — Learning English from the News.
از چه چیزی شروع نکنم؟
Authentic بودن خودش مدال نیست 😄 برای شروع، این formatها معمولاً unnecessarily سختن:
- live political debates؛
- breaking-news panels با چند guest؛
- finance tickerهایی که number و abbreviation میبارن؛
- long live broadcasts؛
Cambridge Grammar — Newspaper headlines.
یعنی headline رو فقط بهعنوان preview استفاده کن؛ ازش انتظار نداشته باش مثل یک sentence معمولیِ textbook رفتار کنه.
Original practice example
New park opens downtown
این یک headline-style phrase کوتاهه. Headline رو برای preview بگیر، نه برای اینکه کل story رو از روی همین چهار کلمه حدس بزنی.
برای preview قبل از اولین listening pass.
قبل از دیدن body فقط یک prediction بساز: Maybe the story is about a new public park.
مثال کامل: اسکلت خبر رو قبل از detailها بگیر
این متن کاملاً writer-created و fictionalـه؛ audio واقعی یا خبر واقعی نیست.
Riverside City opened a new public park on Saturday. The park has two playgrounds, a small café, and a walking path. City officials say more than 500 people visited on the first day.
اول skeleton:
- Topic: a new public park opened;
- Where: Riverside City;
- When: Saturday;
- Number: more than 500 visitors;
- Actions: opened, has, say, visited.
بعد retell:
A city opened a new park, and more than 500 people visited on the first day.
Original practice example
Riverside City opened a new public park on Saturday.
اول topic + action رو بگیر؛ café و walking path میتونن pass دوم یا سوم بیان.
برای gist-first listening روی short news.
Sentence رو ببند و فقط جواب بده: What happened?
Self-check: این خبر fictional رو واقعاً گرفتی؟
What happened?
A new public park opened.
Where?
In Riverside City.
When?
On Saturday.
Which number matters?
More than 500 people visited on the first day.
Give a one-sentence retell.
A city opened a new park, and more than 500 people visited on the first day.
Retell لازم نیست transcript رو clone کنه؛ باید meaning رو نگه داره.
یه learner mistake کلاسیک: I listen news every day
وقتی بعد از listen object میآد، معمولاً to لازم داری. Cambridge هم همین pattern رو ثبت میکنه. Cambridge Grammar — Hear or listen (to)?.
پس:
I listen to the news every day.
یا:
I listen to English news every day.
Original practice example
I listen news every day.
Repair: I listen to the news every day. وقتی object داری، listen to لازم میشه.
برای حرفزدن دربارهٔ news-listening habit.
Version خودت رو بساز: I listen to English news three times a week.
news معمولاً countable نیست
Cambridge میگه news معمولاً uncountableـه؛ پس a news standard نیست. میتونی بگی some news، a piece of news، a news story یا a news report. Cambridge Grammar — News.
Original practice example
I have a news for you.
Repair: I have some news for you. یا I have a piece of news for you.
برای حرفزدن دربارهٔ خبر یا information جدید.
یک sentence با news story بساز.
headline با report فرق داره
headline title کوتاه storyـه؛ report میتونه خود گزارش/شرح spoken یا written دربارهٔ event باشه. Cambridge — headline Cambridge — report.
پس routine خوب اینه:
- headline → فقط preview؛
- report/body → meaning و detail؛
- retell → output خودت.
Reporting style: رسمیتر یا سادهتر؟
According to the report, the park opened on Saturday.
این framing report-like و رسمیتره.
The report says the park opened on Saturday.
این version plainتره و کاملاً طبیعی.
Cambridge according to رو با meaningِ as stated/reported by توضیح میده. Cambridge — according to.
Original practice example
According to the report, more than 500 people visited the park.
برای reporting رسمیتر خوبه؛ The report says… version سادهتره. هیچکدوم universally «بهتر» نیست.
برای retell کردن news یا اشاره به source.
همین idea رو با The report says...
B2/C1
میتونی بری سمت normal-speed news یا learner-news پیچیدهتر مثل current BBC Learning English Learning English from the News. اول preview، بعد listen؛ نه اینکه transcript رو از قبل بخونی.
این level path practicalـه، نه rating علمی همهٔ outletها.
روتین ۱۰ تا ۱۵ دقیقهای برای یک خبر
زمانها practical هستن، نه scientific optimum.
- یک clip ۳۰ تا ۹۰ ثانیهای انتخاب کن.
- فقط headline/topic رو ببین.
- بار اول: topic.
- بار دوم: یک name/number/date/time.
- بار سوم: action/verb اصلی.
- source transcript/captions رو کوتاه check کن.
- فقط چند note کوچک بنویس.
- text رو ببند.
- یک یا دو sentence retell بگو.
Original practice example
A city opened a new park, and more than 500 people visited on the first day.
Numbers/dates رو از دست میدم
در pass دوم فقط یک numerical detail رو target کن؛ نه همهٔ numberها.
Vocabulary رسمی/سیاسی زیاده
Topic سادهتر یا learner-focused انتخاب کن. “Serious” بودن source هدف آموزشی نیست.
Live panel گیجم میکنه
Format رو عوض کن: one narrator، clean audio، minimal overlap. این انتخاب level هوشمندانهست، نه cheating.
Transcript/captions
What happened?
