I’m nervous about the interview. برای جواب آزمایش، I’m worried about my results. طبیعیتره. اگر چند روزه یک دلشورهٔ سنگینتر همراهته، anxious ممکنه بهتر بشینه. سه word، سه زاویه—not three medical levels.
قبل از یک event تنش داری؟ nervous
Oxford و Cambridge برای nervous کاربردهایی مثل موقعیتهای مهم، سخت یا نامطمئن رو پوشش میدن؛ همون لحظههایی که قبل از interview، exam، presentation یا first call دلات شور میزنه.
Original practice example
I’m nervous about the interview.
nervous اینجا event tension رو foreground میکنه: خودِ مصاحبه جلوی توئه و بدن/ذهنات tense شده.
مصاحبه، امتحان، ارائه، تماس اول، قرار اول، اجرای مهم.
معنی: «برای مصاحبه استرس دارم.»
سه event واقعی انتخاب کن و با nervous about جمله بساز.
مثلاً:
- I’m nervous about tomorrow’s presentation.
- She gets nervous before exams.
پس nervous رو به «ترس شدید» ترجمه نکن؛ خیلی وقتها همون butterflies و tension قبل از eventـه.
ذهنت درگیر اینه که «نکنه یه اتفاق بد بیفته»؟ worried
worried broad everyday wordـه وقتی فکرت روی یک problem، bad result یا safety گیر کرده.
Original practice example
I’m worried about my test results.
worried اینجا event performance نیست؛ نگرانی دربارهٔ نتیجهٔ احتمالیه.
نتیجهٔ آزمایش/امتحان، دیرکردن یک نفر، پول، safety، جواب پیام، تأخیر.
معنی: «نگران جواب آزمایشم.»
یک person، result و money problem انتخاب کن و سه جمله با worried about بساز.
مثلاً:
- I’m worried about my daughter. She’s late.
- We’re worried about the delay.
- He’s worried about money this month.
اگر question اصلی تو اینه که «نکنه نتیجه بد بشه؟»، worried معمولاً anchor خیلی خوبیه.
unease سنگینتر، رسمیتر یا مداومتره؟ anxious
Oxford برای anxious هم worry/unease رو پوشش میده. توی everyday English میتونه نسبت به nervous یا worried کمی heavier یا formalتر به گوش برسه، یا حالتی رو توصیف کنه که فقط به یک لحظهٔ مشخص محدود نیست.
Original practice example
I’ve been feeling anxious for a few days.
anxious اینجا یک unease مداومتر رو توصیف میکنه. این فقط یک nuance زبانیه، نه diagnosis.
دلشورهٔ مداومتر، تأخیر طولانی، uncertainty، توصیف رسمیترِ نگرانی.
معنی: «چند روزه دلشوره/اضطراب دارم.»
یک situation بساز که unease فقط چند دقیقه قبل از event نیست و با anxious توصیفش کن.
مثلاً:
- She felt anxious about the long delay.
- I’m anxious about what happens next.
anxious رو فقط چون advancedتر به نظر میاد انتخاب نکن؛ job جمله مهمتر از سطح لغته.
nervous و anxious میتونن هر دو درست باشن
مرز این سه word مثل جدول ضرب نیست. مخصوصاً nervous و anxious overlap دارن.
Original practice example
I’m nervous about the interview. / I’m anxious about the interview.
I’m worried about the results.
everyday و مستقیمه.
I’m anxious about the results.
میتونه heavier یا formalتر باشه.
پس severity thermometer نساز. context بهتر از درصد خیالی کار میکنه.
Trap مهم: anxious to do میتونه یعنی مشتاق بودن
یکی از کاربردهای ثبتشدهٔ anxious اینه که با to + verb معنی «مشتاق / خیلی خواهان» بده:
I’m anxious to start.
بسته به context میتونه یعنی «مشتاقم شروع کنم»، نه اینکه «از شروعکردن میترسم».
برای learner، safer check اینه:
- anxious about + noun → معمولاً worry/unease
- anxious to + verb → ممکنه eager/wanting strongly باشه

حس مبهم و ادامهدار
A: You seem distracted.
B: Yeah. I’ve been feeling anxious lately.
کلینیک اشتباه: مشکل eventـه یا outcome؟
I’m nervous about my daughter because she’s two hours late.
Context check
طبقهبندی: grammatically understandable, but the intended everyday meaning is better expressed differently.
Listener interpretation: speaker feels tense/nervous regarding the daughter.
Learner intent: «چون دو ساعت دیر کرده، نگرانشم.»
Natural alternative: I’m worried about my daughter because she’s two hours late.
Context note: nervous is possible in broader contexts, but worried directly matches concern about her safety/result.
I’m worried before my presentation.
Context check
طبقهبندی: grammatically possible, but often less natural if the main meaning is performance tension.
Listener interpretation: speaker is concerned about something connected to the presentation.
Learner intent: «قبل از ارائه استرس دارم.»
Natural alternative: I’m nervous about my presentation.
Context note: worried is fully natural if a specific bad outcome is what the speaker means.
I’m anxious to start the new project.
Meaning check
طبقهبندی: grammatically valid and context-dependent.
Listener interpretation: it can mean the speaker is eager to start, not necessarily afraid.
Learner intent: if the learner means «از شروع پروژه استرس دارم.»
Natural alternative: I’m anxious about starting the new project. or I’m nervous about starting the new project.
Context note: anxious to do can carry the eager meaning.
I’m anxious, so it must be more serious than worried.
Meaning check
طبقهبندی: grammatically valid, but the vocabulary claim is misleading.
Listener interpretation: speaker is imposing a fixed severity ladder.
Learner intent: trying to rank the three words.
Natural alternative: choose by context and nuance: event tension, problem focus, or heavier/ongoing unease.
Context note: intensity can vary with situation and tone; there is no universal percentage scale.
Feeling Lab: اول situation رو انتخاب کن
قبل از باز کردن model، یکی رو انتخاب کن: EVENT / BAD RESULT-PROBLEM / ONGOING-HEAVIER UNEASE.
«برای مصاحبه استرس دارم.»
Model
Situation: EVENT
I’m nervous about the interview.
anxious هم ممکنه اگر nuance سنگینتر/رسمیتر بخوای.
«نگران جواب آزمایشم.»
Model
Situation: BAD RESULT
I’m worried about my test results.
«چند روزه دلشوره دارم.»
Model
Situation: ONGOING UNEASE
I’ve been feeling anxious for a few days.
«دوستم خیلی دیر کرده و جواب نمیده؛ نگرانشم.»
Model
Situation: PROBLEM / SAFETY
I’m worried about my friend. She’s very late and isn’t answering.
«برای ارائهٔ فردا استرس دارم.»
Model
Situation: EVENT / PERFORMANCE
I’m nervous about tomorrow’s presentation.
«نگران پول این ماهام.»
Model
Situation: PROBLEM
I’m worried about money this month.
«قبل از اولین تماس خیلی استرس داشتم.»
Model
Situation: EVENT
I was really nervous before the first call.
«این تأخیر حسابی مضطربم کرده.»
Model
Situation: HEAVIER UNEASE
The delay has made me anxious.
worried may also work depending on the exact nuance.
«بیصبرانه مشتاقم شروع کنم.»
Model
Meaning: EAGER
I’m anxious to get started.
اینجا anxious میتونه eager باشه، نه worried.
«برای امتحان هم استرس دارم هم یه دلشورهٔ سنگینتر.»
Model
Situation: EVENT + HEAVIER UNEASE
I’m nervous about the exam, and I’ve been feeling pretty anxious about it too.
تمرین ۳۰ ثانیهای: یک event، دو nuance
یک event واقعی انتخاب کن، مثلاً interview.
Event tension:
I’m nervous about the interview.
Heavier / more formal unease:
I’m anxious about the interview.
حالا یک outcome sentence بساز:
I’m worried about the result.
- Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries: nervous — event/difficult-situation tension و general nervousness.
- Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries: anxious — worry/unease، about/for و eager meaning در anxious to do.
- Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries: worried — broad everyday concern about possible bad things/problems.
- Cambridge Dictionary: nervous — overlap around important/difficult situations.
قاعدهٔ آخر: situation اول، word بعد
برای فهمیدن فرق nervous و anxious و جای worried، قبل از word بپرس:
- یک event یا performance جلوی منه؟ → nervous
- یک bad result یا problem ذهنم رو گرفته؟ → worried
- unease سنگینتر، رسمیتر یا مداومتره؟ → anxious
مرزها overlap دارن. هدف این نیست که احساسات رو درجهبندی کنی؛ هدف اینه که زاویهٔ جمله رو درست انتخاب کنی.
