いろいろな英語のアクセントを聞く練習｜まねる音・聞き取る音を分ける
英語のaccent練習をCopy LaneとListen Laneに分け、まねるspeakerは一人、聞き取るaccentは多く。vowel・R・rhythmの違いをrecogniseする練習です。
いろいろな英語accentを聞く時、全部をまねる必要はありません。Copy Laneでは一人のstable modelを使い、Listen Laneでは多くのaccentを「聞き取れるようにする」だけにします。
目標はシンプルです。One voice to copy, many voices to understand.
「聞き取る」と「同じように話す」は別skill
British Council LearnEnglish は、real-life Englishに備えるためにdifferent accentsへのexposureが重要だと説明しています。またAudio Zone では、世界中のspeakersによるwide range of accentsを聞けます。
でも、listening exposureが増えたからといって、自分のproduction modelまで毎回変える必要はありません。
Copy Lane：自分がまねるspeakerは一人に固定する
Copy Laneでは、pronunciation/rhythmを安定させるために一人のspeaker/modelを選びます。ここでは「このspeakerならどう言う？」が基準です。

Copy Laneでは、chosen modelのvowel、R/consonant、rhythmをそのままimitateします。
自分のspeaking targetを毎回変えずにpracticeできます。
一人のmodelでこのsentenceをshadowし、別accentのspeakerを聞いてもproduction targetは変えないでください。

chosen modelがRをどうrealiseするかだけをcopyします。
他accentのRを聞き取る練習と、自分のR targetを分けられます。
Copy LaneではmodelのR patternを一つだけmarkし、それを再現してください。
Listen Lane：accentが違ってもwordをrecoverする
British Council TeachingEnglish は、international Englishを使うlearnersにother non-native accentsへのexposureも重要だと述べています。
Listen Laneのgoalはaccentをまねることではありません。音が違っても同じword/meaningへmapできるかです。

別のspeakerでvowelやrhythmが違っても、sentenceをrecogniseできればListen Laneではsuccessです。
unfamiliar accentを“間違い”ではなくvariantとして処理できます。
speakerのsoundをcopyせず、まずwordsとmeaningだけrecoverしてください。

thoughtやreadyのvowel qualityがmodelと違っても、lexical identityを失わないことがtargetです。
accent variationに対するlistening toleranceを作れます。
一回目はtranscriptなし、二回目にtranscriptで確認し、どのsound differenceで迷ったか一つだけnoteしてください。
Compare：違いは三つだけ見る
accent comparisonをするとき、accent name当てgameにしません。次の三つだけを観察します。
- Vowel anchor：同じwordのvowelがどう違って聞こえる？
- R / consonant realization：Rや特定consonantがどうrealiseされる？
- Rhythm / boundary：どこがstrongで、どこがつながって聞こえる？
British Council も、different accentsではphonemic-chart exampleと違うvowel soundsを聞くことがあると説明しています。

speaker A/Bでafterやlunchのvowel、R、sentence rhythmのうち一つだけ比較します。
accent全体を“難しい”と感じず、differenceを局所化できます。
Copy Lane modelのversionはimitate、Listen Lane speakerのversionはrecogniseだけしてください。

really / good / ideaのどこでaccent variationが聞き取りに影響したか一つだけ特定します。
“accentが全部違う”から“このvowelだけ unfamiliar”へdiagnosisを変えられます。
meaningが取れたなら、Listen Laneではそれ以上imitateしなくてもOKです。
Accent Exposure Ladder：少しずつ unfamiliar にする
いきなり最も難しいspeakerだけを選ぶ必要はありません。
- 自分のCopy Lane modelに近いspeakerを聞く。
- 一つだけnoticeable differenceがあるspeakerへ移る。
- vowel/rhythm/Rが複数違うspeakerを聞く。
- transcriptなしでgistとkeywordsを取る。
- 最後にtranscriptで「何が違って聞こえたか」を一つだけ確認する。

複数speakerで同じsentenceを聞く想定で、tomorrowのvowel/rhythmが変わってもwordをrecogniseできるか試します。
accent variationをword recognitionへ結びつけます。
一番 unfamiliar なversionだけを2〜3回replayし、音をcopyせずword identityを取り戻してください。

分からなかった時、accent全体ではなくlast word周辺のvowel/consonant/boundaryに戻ります。

まねるvoiceは一つ、理解できるvoicesは増やす
