Wide → Narrow → Retry
- Wide Listen: nghe cả take, không pause.
- Choose One Lane: flow/chunking, stress/rhythm, timing, wording/meaning hoặc một pronunciation feature.
- Narrow Compare: source vs self trên đúng target đó.
- One Repair: viết một thay đổi cụ thể.
- Retry: record lại cùng span.
- Same-Target Check: compare Take 1 với Take 2 trên đúng feature đã chọn.
- Park the Rest: lỗi khác để sau.
Listen wide before you zoom in. One recording, one repair.
Original practice example
I should have checked first.
Nếu learner nói I should checked first, hãy phân loại là sai (wrong) cho intended past-regret construction. Listener có thể vẫn infer regret. Natural alternative là I should have checked first. I should check first lại hợp lệ với một present/future meaning khác.
Nếu Take 1 làm rơi have, đây là wording/phrase target rõ. Narrow Compare chỉ cần source → Take 1 trên chunk should have checked.
Nghĩa: Đáng lẽ tôi nên kiểm tra trước.
Repair ticket: “Keep should have checked intact.” Record Take 2. Đừng mở thêm ba vowel investigations trong cùng cycle.
Lane: stress/rhythm — nghe meaning trước khi chấm accent
Original practice example
I wanted the BLUE one.
Nếu learner đặt main prominence lên ONE trong khi intended contrast là colour, form đó context-dependent, không phải grammatically wrong. Listener có thể nghe contrast về item/choice thay vì colour. Natural alternative cho intended colour correction là prominence trên BLUE. ONE vẫn có thể là right prominent word trong context khác.
Narrow Compare: source prominence vs Take 1 prominence. Đây là meaning/prosody review, không cần soi vowel của wanted.
One repair: move the beat to BLUE. Record Take 2 và compare đúng prominence đó.
Lane: wording/meaning — có lỗi nghe như pronunciation nhưng không phải
Original practice example
Could you send it by Friday?
Nếu learner nói Could you send it until Friday? nhưng intended meaning là Friday là deadline, hãy phân loại là không tự nhiên / non-idiomatic cho intended deadline request. Listener có thể hiểu duration tới Friday tùy context. Natural alternative là Could you send it by Friday?. until Friday vẫn hợp lệ trong durative contexts như Can I keep it until Friday?.
Nếu recording có until, đừng spend review cycle trên /f/ của Friday. Issue chính là wording/meaning.
Nghĩa mục tiêu: gửi chậm nhất vào thứ Sáu.
One repair: restore by Friday with deadline meaning. Record Take 2, then return to pronunciation later if needed.
Lane: một pronunciation feature — đây mới là lúc dùng microscope
Zoom không xấu. Zoom vô hạn mới mệt. Chọn feature đã ảnh hưởng target hoặc clarity rồi compare nó.
Original practice example
Could you record the meeting?
Nếu learner dùng noun-like first-syllable stress cho record khi intended word là verb, hãy phân loại là sai cho intended verb pronunciation trong standard noun/verb contrast. Listener có thể vẫn recover meaning từ syntax/context. First-syllable stress vẫn hợp lệ cho noun record.
Narrow Compare chỉ cần stress placement trên record: source, Take 1, rồi Take 2. Không cần audit mọi consonant trong sentence.
One repair: move lexical stress to second syllable for the verb. Retry same sentence and compare only that target.
Listen 3 — biến observation thành một Repair Ticket
Review chỉ có giá trị nếu nó tạo ra next action.
- Span: đoạn nào?
- Lane: flow, stress, wording, timing hay pronunciation?
- Source: model làm gì?
- Take 1: mình làm gì?
- One change for Take 2: đúng một thay đổi.
- Later: optional parked issue.
Nếu dòng “One change” chứa chữ “và” ba lần, ticket đang tham. Split it.
Take 2 — review phải quay lại thành speaking
Record lại cùng span. Đừng đổi source, target, sentence và speaking goal cùng lúc. Take 2 tồn tại để test một repair.
Target tốt hơn, nhưng tôi nghe thêm một lỗi khác
Good. Ghi vào Later nếu nó đáng sửa. Cycle hiện tại vẫn thành công.
Target không đổi
Repair có thể chưa đúng. Chọn một repair khác cho cùng target trước khi đổi lane.
Take 2 tệ hơn tổng thể nhưng target tốt hơn
Đừng vội phán toàn take. Nếu bạn cố ý tập một feature mới, compare feature đó trước; sau đó mới xem flow ở pass tiếp theo.
Park the rest: không phải issue nào cũng cần sửa hôm nay
Một later list tốt rất ngắn:
- “Ending rushed.”
- “Check linking on send it.”
- “Review vowel later if it still affects clarity.”
Later list không phải backlog để bạn cảm thấy có lỗi. Nó chỉ giữ issue khỏi chen vào one-repair cycle hiện tại.
Listen wide before you zoom in
Nghe cả take trước. Chọn một lane. Compare đúng một feature. Name một repair. Record Take 2.
Recording không cần trả lời “giọng tôi tốt hay xấu?”. Nó chỉ cần trả lời một câu hữu ích hơn: next repair là gì?
One recording, one repair. Microscope cất lại cho tới khi bạn thật sự biết mình cần zoom vào đâu.
