Bắt đầu shadowing bằng câu ngắn có audio theo Understand → Hear → Echo → Join → Shadow → Fade, dùng transcript/chunk support chỉ khi cần.
Nếu bạn mới bắt đầu, đừng ép mình nói cùng lúc với speaker ngay từ câu đầu. Chọn một line ngắn, hiểu meaning, nghe trọn câu, echo sau speaker, join chunks rồi mới thử source-led shadowing.
Shadowing không cần bắt đầu bằng “full speed, no transcript, good luck”. Beginner support là bridge—not cheating.

- Understand: biết situation và core meaning.
- Hear: nghe full line một lượt mà chưa nói.
- Echo: speaker dừng rồi bạn repeat.
- Join: nếu cần, chia line thành 2–3 meaning chunks rồi nối lại.
- Shadow: khi full echo đã workable, bắt đầu nói gần source hơn.
- Fade: hide transcript từng phần khi audio vẫn dẫn được bạn.

British Council LearnEnglish A1 listening hiện có các bài nghe dành cho A1 với familiar words/basic phrases trong situations quen thuộc; mỗi lesson có preparation, audio recording và tasks để check understanding.
Một starter cụ thể là Shopping for clothes: A1, everyday situation, audio + transcript + short exchanges. Dùng source đó để nghe/practice; page này không cần copy nguyên transcript.
Support nào dùng khi nào?
- Meaning support: khi bạn chưa hiểu sentence đang làm gì.
- Transcript: khi wording vẫn mơ hồ sau khi nghe.
- Chunk marks: khi câu đúng nhưng quá dài để giữ trong mouth.
- Echo pass: khi simultaneous speech làm bạn collapse.
- Text fade: chỉ khi source vẫn dẫn được dù text bớt đi.
British Council Vietnam khuyên người mới chọn material phù hợp, dùng script support ở giai đoạn đầu và giảm dependence theo thời gian. Support có job; nó không phải permanent wallpaper.

Nếu learner nói Where is the fitting rooms?, hãy phân loại là wrong. Rooms là plural subject, nên natural alternative là Where are the fitting rooms?.
Useful in a clothes shop.
Chunk as Where are / the fitting rooms? only if needed, then join.

Nếu learner nói Do you like a receipt? để make an immediate offer, form đó unusual / non-idiomatic for the intended offer. Natural alternative là Would you like a receipt?. Do you like receipts? có thể hỏi general preference trong meaning khác.

Listen for the whole offer frame, not individual words only.
Beginner không cần một “lag chuẩn”
British Council Vietnam notes that learners may repeat at the same time or right after hearing and that first attempts with new audio can be messy. Vì vậy, timing nên là một dial:
- Echo after source.
- Then shorter delay.
- Then source-led shadow if workable.
Không cần biến “nói cùng lúc ngay” thành entrance exam.
