I respect your opinion, but you’re wrong.
Acknowledge:
Original practice example
I see what you mean about keeping the design simple.
I see what you mean, but…
I see what you mean 不等于 I agree。
Stance:
Original practice example
I’m not completely convinced, though.
I agree. / I think you’re right about that. |
You’ve got a point there, but I’m not sure about the second part. |
I’m not so sure about that option. |
I think I disagree. / I’m not convinced by that idea. |
| 需要保持 firm boundary | I can’t agree to that deadline. |
Person/global judgement:
You’re wrong. This design is bad.
Idea-focused:
I don’t think this version fits the brief.
Original practice example
I think removing all the colour could make the key information harder to notice.
|---|---|
| You don’t understand the problem. | I think we may be looking at different parts of the problem. |
| Your idea makes no sense. | I’m not sure how this part would work in practice. |
| You’re being unrealistic. | I’m worried the timeline may be difficult to meet. |
I disagree.
Original practice example
Could we keep one accent colour and simplify the rest?
Reopen:
- What if we tried…?
- Could we compare both versions?
- Can we agree that the main goal is…?
- Would it work if we…?
I can’t agree to that deadline
Partial agreement:
I agree, but I disagree
I agree that the page needs to be simpler, but I’m not sure we should remove all the colour.
| Shared ground | Disputed point |
|---|---|
| The page needs to be simpler. | Removing all the colour. |
这比一个模糊的 I agree, but…
Actually, you’re wrong. The meeting is at three.
把 correction 放回 fact:
I think the meeting is at three, actually. Let me check the invite.
Disagreement Lab:
Scenario A
You’re wrong. This design is bad.
看修理
主要是 PERSON-vs-IDEA,同时缺 acknowledgement/reopen。 I see why you want a cleaner design. I’m not convinced this version fits the brief, though. Could we compare it with the client’s examples?
Scenario B
Maybe, perhaps, I don’t know, but maybe I disagree a little.
看修理
STANCE。 I’m not so sure about that option. I think it may create more work later.
Scenario C
I agree, but I disagree.
看修理
I agree that the page needs to be simpler, but I’m not sure we should remove all the colour.
Scenario D
Actually, you’re wrong. The meeting is at three.
看修理
I think the meeting is at three, actually. Let me check the invite.
Scenario E
I don’t agree with that deadline.
I don’t think I can commit to that deadline. Could we look at Friday instead?
We should make every meeting longer.
- 一个 specific Acknowledge;
- 一个 clear Stance;
- 一个 short Reason;
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| I am agree with you. | I agree with you. |
| I don’t agree to you. | Wrong for the intended person/opinion meaning | 能猜到你不同意对方。 | I don’t agree with you. | agree with someone 表示同意某人的观点;agree to 在别的 context 可以表示同意 proposal/terms。 |
| I disagree your opinion. | I disagree with your opinion. / I don’t agree with that point. |
| Actually, you are wrong. | I think it was three, actually. Let me check. |
Register note: I disagree I’m not convinced 往往更聚焦 idea;firm boundaries 也可以保持 direct。更广泛的 formality/directness calibration 留给下一篇专门指南。
