The official Glot Extension Chrome Web Store listing is active and explicitly names YouTube among supported video destinations. The current reusable store record checked August 24, 2026 identifies version 0.7.22, updated July 2, 2026.

In Chrome, confirm GlotDojo is enabled and inspect whether it can run on youtube.com. Google documents extension enablement and site-access controls in Install and manage extensions.

Site access is one diagnostic layer, not a universal explanation. Change only a restrictive access state if you find one, then retest.

Know what a working GlotDojo video state looks like

GlotDojo’s current welcome page describes video learning with hover translation on subtitles, dual subtitles, auto-pause, subtitle bookmarking, and printable subtitles. Its current homepage also names YouTube and describes video translation and dual-subtitle learning.

Those features give you observable evidence that the GlotDojo video layer is alive. They do not prove every YouTube video exposes exactly the same subtitle state.

Use captions as a diagnostic baseline, not a universal theory

GlotDojo’s current video materials center features such as subtitle hover and dual subtitles, so a YouTube video with a known usable subtitle track is the cleanest control for those subtitle-based features.

That does not justify saying every GlotDojo function universally requires native YouTube captions. The point of the control video is narrower: if subtitle-centered GlotDojo features appear there but not on the failing video, you have evidence that the difference belongs to the video/subtitle state rather than the whole extension.

This guide does not teach YouTube caption fonts, colors, positions, or other native player preferences. Those settings are a different reader job.

Change one link, then reload the same video

1. Confirm GlotDojo is enabled.
2. Confirm youtube.com access.
3. Test the known subtitled control video.
4. Return to the failing video without changing extension settings.
5. Reload once and observe the GlotDojo subtitle-learning layer.

If you change browser, extension version, video, permissions, and subtitle state all at once, you may fix the problem while losing the evidence that tells you why.

When the supported baseline still fails, stop resetting

If the current extension is enabled, youtube.com access is appropriate, and GlotDojo still fails on a known usable subtitle state, stop clearing browser data or repeatedly reinstalling without evidence.

Send support a precise report:

• Chrome version.
• GlotDojo version.
• Exact YouTube URL.
• Whether GlotDojo appears at all.
• Whether the video exposes a usable subtitle track.
• Whether the same setup works on the control video.
• youtube.com site-access state.
• Result after one clean reload.
