How to Turn Off Language Reactor on Netflix, Disable It, or Uninstall It
Want Language Reactor off on Netflix? Choose the right level: player switch, Netflix permission, Chrome disable, or full uninstall.
If you only want Language Reactor off on Netflix, do not uninstall it: choose the smallest of four controls that matches how far you want “off” to go.
Before you click Remove from Chrome, decide whether you actually mean “never again” or merely “not during this Netflix episode.” Language Reactor and Chrome give you separate controls for those jobs. Use the Four Levels of Off below and stop exactly where you mean to stop.

One trap: unpinning the Language Reactor icon is not another level of “off.” It only hides the toolbar icon. The extension can still be enabled.
Which version of “off” do you actually want?
Pick the sentence closest to what you mean. A larger exit is not better; it is just larger.
I want a normal Netflix player right now, but I may use Language Reactor again.
Use Level 1: click the LR button in the Netflix playback bar. This is the least destructive choice and does not uninstall the extension.
I still want Language Reactor elsewhere, but not on Netflix.
Use Level 2: change Language Reactor’s Netflix site permission. Do not use Chrome’s global extension toggle if you still want the extension available on other supported sites.
I want Language Reactor off everywhere, but I may turn it back on later.
Use Level 3: turn the Language Reactor extension toggle off in Chrome’s Manage extensions page. The extension stays installed.
I do not want Language Reactor installed anymore.
Use Level 4: remove the extension from Chrome. This is the actual uninstall.
Level 1: turn Language Reactor off inside Netflix
If your goal is simply “give me normal Netflix for this movie,” start here.
- Open Netflix in Chrome and start the title.
- Find the LR button in the playback bar.
- Click the LR button to switch Language Reactor off.
- Continue playback and confirm the Language Reactor interface is no longer affecting the Netflix viewing experience.
Language Reactor’s current FAQ says clicking its LR button in the playback bar switches Language Reactor off so Netflix or YouTube should work as if the extension is not installed. See Language Reactor’s FAQ.
What changed: Language Reactor is switched off for the player experience you are using.
What did not change: you did not uninstall the Chrome extension. If your real goal is to make Language Reactor disappear from Netflix altogether, move to Level 2.
Level 2: keep Language Reactor, but stop it on Netflix
This is the useful middle ground for someone who thinks, “I still use Language Reactor on YouTube; I just do not want it touching Netflix.”
Language Reactor’s FAQ specifically says that if you want to remove its button completely from Netflix only, you can disable Netflix permission for the extension. Chrome also documents per-site extension access.
- In Chrome, open More → Extensions → Manage extensions.
- Find Language Reactor and select Details.
- Look under Permissions or site access.
- Remove or restrict Language Reactor’s access to Netflix. Depending on the permission view Chrome shows for the extension, this can appear as allowed-site controls or site-access choices.
- Reload Netflix.
Google’s current documentation describes extension site access as On select, On specific sites, or On all sites, and also documents adding or removing allowed sites where that option applies. The current browser instructions are in Google Chrome Help: Install and manage extensions.
What changed: Language Reactor no longer has the Netflix access you removed or restricted.
What did not change: the extension is still installed and can remain available on other sites where it has permission.
Level 3: disable Language Reactor everywhere in Chrome
This is the first browser-wide step. Use it when you want Language Reactor asleep, not deleted.
- Open Chrome.
- Go to More → Extensions → Manage extensions.
- Find Language Reactor.
- Turn its extension toggle off.
Chrome documents this toggle as the normal way to turn an installed extension on or off.
What changed: Language Reactor is disabled across Chrome, rather than only on Netflix.
What did not change: the extension remains installed. If you want it again later, return to Manage extensions and turn the toggle back on.
If that is all you wanted, stop here. There is no bonus prize for uninstalling something you only meant to pause.
Level 4: uninstall Language Reactor from Chrome
Choose this only when “turn it off” really means “I do not want this extension installed anymore.”
- Open More → Extensions → Manage extensions.
- Find Language Reactor.
- Select Remove.
- Confirm Remove.
Chrome also documents a faster route when the extension icon is visible: right-click the icon and choose Remove from Chrome.
What changed: Language Reactor is uninstalled from Chrome. To use it again later, you would need to reinstall the extension.
Scope note: the verified action here removes the Chrome extension. This guide does not establish or perform any separate Language Reactor account, subscription, or billing change.
Unpin is hide-and-seek, not disable
If you right-click an extension icon and choose Unpin, Chrome hides that icon from the toolbar. Google documents unpinning under Hide extensions, separately from turning an extension off or removing it.

So if you hid the icon and Language Reactor still appears on Netflix, nothing mysterious happened. You hid the shortcut, not the extension.

After you make the change, verify the result before closing all your tabs and forgetting what you changed.
