I’m going to Berlin on Friday. บอก plan/intention ได้ แต่ grammar ไม่ได้ออกตั๋วเครื่องบินให้คุณ 😄 ถ้ายังไม่ได้ book และอีกฝ่ายต้องวางแผนตาม ให้พูด status ตรง ๆ: I’m planning to go, but the ticket isn’t booked yet. I’ll confirm by nine tonight.

  • Fixed / arranged — นัด จอง หรือตกลงไว้แล้วในบริบทนั้น
  • Intended — คุณตั้งใจ/ตัดสินใจแล้ว แต่ external confirmation อาจยังไม่ครบ
  • Possible — อาจเกิดขึ้น แต่ยังไม่ควรให้คนอื่น plan รอบมัน
  • Conditional — จะเกิดถ้า dependency หรือ condition สำเร็จ

บอก status ไม่ใช่แค่ tense

British Council LearnEnglish แยกงานของ future forms ไว้ชัด: will ใช้ได้กับ decision ที่เกิดตอนพูด, be going to กับ plan ที่ตัดสินใจไว้ก่อน และ present continuous กับ arrangement ที่จัดไว้แล้ว.

Anchor → Status → Condition → Update → Confirm

สมมติคุณตั้งใจไป Berlin Friday แต่ ticket ยังไม่จอง:

  1. Anchor: Berlin on Friday
  2. Status: I’m planning to go.
  3. Condition: The ticket isn’t booked yet.
  4. Update: I’ll book it tonight and confirm by nine.
  5. Confirm: So don’t book anything around my trip yet.

ตอนนี้อีกฝ่ายไม่ต้องเดาว่า “going to = confirmed?” เพราะคุณพูดสถานะจริงออกมาแล้ว.

Future forms ช่วยบอกประเภทของแผน—ไม่ใช่เปอร์เซ็นต์ certainty

Present continuous: arrangement

I’m meeting Dr Chen at ten on Tuesday. ฟังเป็น arrangement ที่จัดไว้แล้วได้ดี. แต่ถ้า listener ต้อง act ต่อ เพิ่ม status ได้: The appointment is confirmed.

Going to: pre-decided plan / intention

Cambridge Grammar ใช้ be going to กับ future plans/intentions ที่ decision เกิดขึ้นแล้ว. แต่ personal intention ไม่เท่ากับ external confirmation.

Will: decision at the moment

I forgot the agenda. I’ll send it now. — decision เกิดตอนพูด. นี่คนละ job กับ arrangement ที่นัดไว้ก่อน.

May / might / could: possibility

Cambridge Grammar อธิบายว่า could, may และ might ใช้พูดถึง possibility และยังระบุว่าผู้พูดจำนวนมากไม่เห็นตรงกันว่าอันไหน certainty มากกว่ากัน. อย่าสร้าง chart แบบ might = 30% หรือ may = 50%. British Council ก็ใช้ modal กลุ่มนี้กับสิ่งที่เป็นไปได้แต่ speaker ยังไม่แน่ใจ.

สอง error ที่ทำให้ plan status มัวกว่าเดิม

I will meeting Alex tomorrow.

เปิด repair

Wrong. หลัง will ใช้ base verb: I’ll meet Alex tomorrow. ถ้าเป็น arrangement ที่นัดไว้แล้ว I’m meeting Alex tomorrow. อาจตรงกับ job มากกว่า.

I maybe go on Saturday.

เปิด repair

Wrong for the intended structure. ใช้ I might go on Saturday. หรือ Maybe I’ll go on Saturday.. might เป็น modal; maybe เป็น adverb.

5 สถานการณ์: คนฟังควร act อะไรได้ตอนนี้?

Original practice example

I’m hoping to join you on Saturday, but it depends on work. I’ll confirm by Friday at noon.

Possible/tentative plan. Dependency คือ work schedule; update point ชัด. อย่านับ speaker เป็น confirmed guest ตอนนี้.

ใช้กับ casual plans ที่ยังมี dependency

ฉันหวังว่าจะไปด้วยวันเสาร์ แต่ขึ้นกับงาน ฉันจะยืนยันภายในเที่ยงวันศุกร์

เปลี่ยน work เป็น family / weather / ticket และกำหนด update point จริง.

FunFluen ไทย.

Original practice example

I’m going to fly to Berlin on Friday, but the ticket isn’t booked yet. I’ll book it tonight and confirm by nine.

Intention/pre-decided plan ไม่ใช่ confirmed booking. ประโยคหลังทำให้ status และ update point explicit.

ใช้กับ travel/logistics เมื่อ intention ชัดแต่ booking ยัง pending

ฉันตั้งใจบินไปเบอร์ลินวันศุกร์ แต่ยังไม่ได้จองตั๋ว ฉันจะจองคืนนี้และยืนยันภายในสามทุ่ม

ระบุสิ่งที่ listener ไม่ควร book/commit จนกว่าคุณจะ confirm.

Original practice example

I’m meeting Dr Chen at ten on Tuesday. The appointment is confirmed.

Present continuous fits an arrangement; explicit confirmed tells the listener the operational status.

ใช้กับ appointment/event ที่จัดและยืนยันแล้ว

ฉันนัดพบ Dr Chen ตอนสิบโมงวันอังคาร นัดยืนยันแล้ว

เปลี่ยนเป็น dinner / interview / meeting แล้วระบุว่า confirm ผ่านอะไร.

Original practice example

For now, the plan is to launch on Monday. It depends on final QA approval. If QA signs off by Friday, we’ll go ahead. I’ll confirm by Friday at four.

Conditional professional plan.

Original practice example

Update: Tuesday is no longer fixed. The supplier moved the delivery, so we’re now aiming for Thursday. I’ll confirm the new date by noon tomorrow.

Changed-plan update ต้อง retire status เก่าให้ชัด: Tuesday no longer fixed.

I’m going to the conference. แต่ registration ยัง pending อย่าให้ listener เข้าใจว่า confirmed แล้วถ้าเขาต้องวางแผนตาม.

I’m planning to go, but my registration is still pending. I’ll confirm once I get the approval email.

“I’ll let you know later” ไม่ใช่ update point ที่ดีเมื่อคนอื่นรอคุณ

I’ll let you know later. grammatical แต่ vague. ถ้าคนอื่นต้องตัดสินใจตาม ให้เวลาหรือ event ที่ตรวจได้:

  • I’ll confirm by Friday at noon.
  • I’ll update you after the 3 p.m. supplier call.
  • I’ll confirm as soon as the booking email arrives.

Can I act on this yet?

I’m meeting Sara at two. It’s confirmed.

เปิด status

Fixed/arranged. Listener วางแผนรอบ 2 p.m. ได้ เว้นแต่มี update ใหม่.

I’m going to Berlin next week, but I haven’t booked the ticket yet. I’ll confirm tonight.

เปิด status

Intended. อย่าเพิ่ง make dependent booking ที่ต้องอาศัย trip นี้.

I might come on Saturday.

เปิด status

Possible. อย่านับ speaker เป็น confirmed headcount.

If legal approves it, we’ll launch Monday. I’ll confirm Friday at four.

เปิด status

Conditional. เตรียมงานแบบ conditional ได้ แต่ยังไม่ควรประกาศ launch แบบไม่มีเงื่อนไข.

Tuesday is no longer fixed; we’re now aiming for Thursday.

เปิด status

Changed plan. หยุด rely on Tuesday; Thursday ยังต้องดู status/update ต่อ.

Micro-challenge: บอก plan ให้คนอื่น act ได้ถูก

  1. Anchor: บอกเวลา/สิ่งที่จะทำ.
  2. Status: fixed / intended / possible / conditional.
  3. Condition: dependency หนึ่งอย่าง.
  4. Update: เวลา/event ที่จะ confirm.
  5. Confirm: บอกว่า listener ทำอะไรต่อได้อย่างปลอดภัยตอนนี้.

คนฟังไม่ควรต้องเดาว่า plan “แน่แค่ไหน” จาก tense อย่างเดียว

Anchor → Status → Condition → Update → Confirm.
