Luyện shadowing B2 bằng Map → Anchor → Hide → Shadow → Recover → Rephrase để theo lời nói tự nhiên hơn mà không phụ thuộc transcript từng từ.

B2 không phải “B1 nhưng bật speed lên”. Bước nhảy thật là theo được idea group dài hơn, nghe natural connected speech hơn và ít cần transcript cứu từng từ.

Nếu một weak phrase biến mất mà bạn dừng toàn bộ turn để rewind, transcript đang lái xe. Ở B2, transcript nên là mechanic: dùng sau pass để sửa đúng chỗ.

Map → Anchor → Hide → Shadow → Recover → Rephrase

  1. Map: hiểu turn đang nói gì trước.
  2. Anchor: giữ 3–5 content/stance anchors.
  3. Hide: bỏ full transcript; nếu cần chỉ giữ anchors.
  4. Shadow: theo một idea group dài hơn, không restart mỗi gap.
  5. Recover: miss một weak/reduced part thì rejoin ở anchor tiếp theo.
  6. Rephrase: nói lại core idea bằng wording của bạn.

B2 khác B1 ở chỗ nào?

British Council LearnEnglish B2 listening mô tả level này quanh extended, standard speech về familiar topics có thể chứa complex ideas—broadcasts, reviews, presentations và lectures.

B2 speaking cũng đi vào những interaction jobs phức tạp hơn: giving advice, dealing with a problem, discussing advantages/disadvantages, persuading và challenging ideas.

Vì vậy, B2 shadowing nên tăng idea length + natural speech + stance. Không cần tăng difficulty bằng cách chọn obscure topic hay speed vô lý.

Anchor không phải “mọi stressed word”

Anchor ở đây là practical note—một word/phrase giúp bạn giữ structure của turn. Nó có thể là:

  • main content: problem / deadline / option;
  • contrast: but / however / instead;
  • reason/result: because / so / which means;
  • stance: I think / probably / might;
  • action: decide / look into / follow up.

Đừng biến nó thành rule “unstressed words không quan trọng”. Small words vẫn có thể đổi grammar hoặc meaning. Anchor chỉ giúp bạn rejoin.

Khi support giảm ổn hơn, British Council Audio Zone có B2–C1 recordings của people speaking naturally, nhiều accents, kèm transcript/exercises. Dùng transcript để repair sau pass, không cần đọc cùng audio mọi lần.

Shorten turn or restore one layer of support. “Less support” should diagnose, not drown you.

Cannot rephrase

Meaning map is probably too shallow. Listen for idea before sound shape.

REMATCH MATERIAL. Topic/lexis mismatch is not proof you “aren’t B2”.

Job: ADVICE. Anchor: if I were you → talk to her first.

Hide text and keep only advice / talk first as anchors.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think that’s the best option.

I disagree with you. cũng grammatically valid, nhưng stance direct hơn. Đây là different pragmatics, không phải “wrong”. Target giữ một hedge trước khi challenge idea.

Job: CHALLENGE IDEA without sounding maximally direct.

Shadow the stance phrase and contrast separately, then join.

Original practice example

We should probably look into it before we decide.

Nếu learner nói We should probably look it before we decide, hãy phân loại là wrong / non-idiomatic for the intended investigate meaning. Natural phrase là look into it.

Job: PROBLEM-SOLVING / ACTION.

If into disappears in your pass, rejoin at before we decide, then repair phrase later.

Original practice example

I didn’t realize how much time it would take.

Nếu learner nói I didn’t realize how much time would it take, hãy phân loại là wrong for embedded-question word order. Natural alternative là how much time it would take.

Job: EXPLAIN / REFLECT.

Rephrase after shadowing: I underestimated how long it would take.

Ít support hơn ≠ không support

Một practical B2 sequence:

  1. First listen: meaning.
  2. Transcript pass: map phrases/anchors.
  3. Anchor-only pass.
  4. No-text shadow pass.
  5. Targeted transcript repair.
  6. One rephrase.

Full transcript có thể quay lại bất cứ lúc nào để answer một question cụ thể. Chỉ đừng để nó biến shadowing thành read-along.

Stressed-Spine check

Nếu bốn cái này đang lên, B2 practice đang làm đúng việc—even if every reduced syllable chưa perfect.

B2 is less about catching every word and more about surviving the turn

Map the idea. Hold the anchors. Shadow the group. Rejoin after a miss. Repair later. Rephrase once.
