道案内の英語シャドーイング｜目印を聞いてルートを説明する
道案内でleft/rightは言えても「どこで曲がるか」が曖昧になる人へ。START→LANDMARK→MOVE→TURN→CHECKで、目印を使ってrouteをshadowし、相手の理解まで確認します。
shared starting pointを確認し、landmarkにturn pointをanchorして、short route chunksをshadowし、listenerのrepeat-backで理解をcheckします。
Go straight and turn left there. “there” がthree streets先にあると、listenerの頭ではthree leftsが候補になります。turnを覚えるより、“どこで曲がるか”をlandmarkに固定する。

- MOVE：straight / past / along のchunkで進む
- TURN：turn pointをlandmarkと結ぶ
- CHECK：listenerがnext landmark/turnを言い返せるか確認する
START：まず「どこから？」をそろえる
Cambridge Dictionaryのrouteは、placesの間を結ぶparticular way/directionです。route explanationの前にstarting pointがずれていると、正しいleft/rightでも役に立ちません。

LANDMARK：turnより先に目印を置く
Cambridge Essential Dictionaryのlandmarkは、where you areをrecognizeする助けになるeasy-to-recognize building/placeです。
British Councilのdirections activityでも、pond・river・bridge・tunnelなどrecognizable landmarksを使ってmap journeyをfollowします。

MOVE：一文を短くしてrouteを前へ進める
British Council LearnEnglishのAn invitation to a partyには、straight on、past a place、exit、turn leftのようなsequenced directionsが出てきます。
- Go straight for two blocks.
- Go past the bank.
- Walk along King Street.
- Cross the bridge.
TURN：“there”ではなくlandmarkで固定する

Cambridge Dictionaryではroad senseのintersectionをmainly USとしています。variety/contextによってjunction、crossroads、cornerなど別wordsもあるので、一語だけをuniversal ruleにしません。

British CouncilのGiving clear instructionsは、instructionsをshort/simpleにし、sequence wordsを使い、理解をcheckすることを勧めています。

今度はpharmacyが見えないfictional versionです。turn actionはsame、anchorだけchangeします。

full routeからbankかpharmacyを一つ消して言ってみます。どのturnがambiguousになったかidentifyし、replacement landmarkを足してください。
turnを覚えるより、“どこで曲がるか”をlandmarkに固定する。 directions shadowingはleft/rightの発音練習ではなく、listenerがrouteをrebuildできるinformation practiceです。
