Migaku Extension Login Loop? Reconnect the Browser and Web App

Migaku website signed in but the extension still logged out? Check the web session, account method, Chrome extension version, and a clean reconnect path.

The short answer

First check whether migaku.com itself stays signed in. If the website session is stable and only the current Chrome extension remains signed out, retry the extension with the same Migaku account and sign-in method before changing unrelated browser settings.

migaku.com says you’re signed in. The Chrome extension says you’re not. Your browser has somehow achieved the quantum state of being logged into Migaku and not logged into Migaku.

Do not start by clearing cookies, changing security software, or reinstalling everything. Migaku does not currently publish a universal Chrome-extension login-loop cause. The useful first question is simpler: which side is actually signed out?

Link 1: use Migaku’s supported desktop browser and a current extension

Migaku’s current download page says its desktop Chrome Browser Extension requires a Migaku Account. Its installation guide identifies Google Chrome as the supported desktop browser. Migaku says Chromium browsers such as Brave or Arc may work, but they are not officially supported.

I am using Brave, Arc, or another Chromium browser

Reproduce the login problem in Chrome before treating it as a supported Migaku extension failure. “Chromium-based” is not the same as “officially supported.”

I am using Google Chrome

Check the extension against Migaku’s current Chrome Web Store listing. As checked August 24, 2026, the listing shows version 1.30.13, updated August 23, 2026.

A current version is a checkpoint, not a magic cure. The update date does not prove that every authentication problem is fixed; it simply stops an obviously stale extension from contaminating the test.

Link 2: prove the Migaku website account session first

Open Migaku’s current login page and sign in using your normal account method. Then reload the Migaku website or revisit it in the same Chrome profile.

The website does not stay signed in

Stop here. You do not yet have an extension-linking diagnosis because the web account session itself is not stable.

If you normally use email and password, the official login page includes the password-reset route. If you normally use Google, Apple, or Facebook, use that same supported method rather than inventing a password login you do not normally use.

The website stays signed in after reload

Good. That proves the web account can authenticate and preserve a session in this Chrome profile. It does not prove the extension has recognized the same account. Move to the identity check.

Link 3: make sure you are testing the same Migaku account

Migaku’s current login page supports email/password, Google, Apple, and Facebook. That makes one accidental troubleshooting mistake easy: signing into one Migaku identity on the website and retrying another identity in the extension.

Before you retry the extension, note two things:

Account identity check

This is a diagnostic control, not a claim that using different methods always creates different accounts. The point is to remove account identity as an unknown before blaming the browser.

Link 4: retry the extension login cleanly

With the Migaku website still signed in, open the Migaku extension from Chrome and inspect its current account state.

If the extension presents its login flow, follow that current flow using the same account identity and sign-in method you just verified on the website. Do not rely on screenshots or button names from an old tutorial; Migaku’s interface can change.

  1. Keep the stable migaku.com session open.
  2. Open the current Migaku Chrome extension.
  3. If it asks for authentication, complete that flow with the same Migaku account you verified on the website.
  4. Close and reopen the extension once, or reload the page where you were using it.
  5. Check whether the extension now recognizes the signed-in account.
The extension now recognizes the account

Stop. The account link is working again. Do not turn a successful reconnect into a browser-cleanup project.

The extension immediately returns to a signed-out/login state

That is useful evidence. If the website session is still stable, the account identity matches, Chrome is supported, and the extension is current, you have narrowed the problem to the extension-side account recognition/reconnect rather than basic web authentication.

What not to “fix” without evidence

Authentication problems tempt people into broad browser surgery. For this exact Migaku problem, the current first-party material does not establish any of these as a universal root cause:

  • third-party cookies;
  • a particular Chrome site-permission setting;
  • antivirus or firewall software;
  • a “corrupt token”;
  • a damaged Migaku account;
  • all browser cookies or cache.

Any of those might matter in a specific case, but claiming one without evidence would be guesswork. Do not make Chrome forget your whole life because two Migaku surfaces disagree.

When to stop local troubleshooting

Stop changing unrelated settings when all of these are true:

Clean account-link check

If every box is checked, more random local changes are low-value. Move to the support report below.

Report the mismatch, not a guessed cause

Migaku maintains a current Feedback & Support page with its support/community routes. Before escalating, collect the state you already proved:

Chrome version:
Migaku extension version:
Chrome Web Store version checked:
Does migaku.com stay signed in after reload? Yes/No
Website sign-in method: password / Google / Apple / Facebook
Extension retry used the same account identity? Yes/No
What does the extension show after the retry?
Does closing/reopening the extension change the result? Yes/No
Exact visible error, if any:
When did this last work, if known:

Notice what is missing from that report: “I think it is cookies.” Support can work with the state you observed; it should not have to untangle a cause you guessed.

What this article is not fixing

  • Migaku-to-Anki pairing or card sending.
  • Migaku not activating on Netflix, YouTube, or another media site.
  • Billing, subscription status, or plan comparisons.
  • Account deletion.
  • Choosing Migaku versus another learning product.

If you separately want another Chrome language-learning extension

This is not a fix or diagnosis for Migaku authentication. If you separately want to review another Chrome-based language-learning extension, you can review the FunFluen Chrome extension before installing it.

Make the two sides agree—or prove exactly where they do not

The clean account-link test is short: supported Chrome/current extension → stable migaku.com session → same account/sign-in method → one extension retry.

If both sides agree afterward, you are done. If the website remains signed in while the current extension immediately returns to a signed-out state, stop inventing invisible causes. You have a precise browser↔account mismatch to report.
