This needs to be more professional.
GIVE: OBSERVE → IMPACT → NEXT MOVE
RECEIVE: LISTEN → CLARIFY → PARAPHRASE → DECIDE
The intro has three separate points, so the main message is hard to spot. Could we reduce it to one key point?
Xem Cambridge — feedback · constructive criticism.
Vậy thay vì You’re not clear, hãy đưa attention về artifact, turn hoặc behaviour cụ thể.
Original practice example
The intro has three separate points.
Reviewing a presentation, proposal or document.
Impact trả lời: “So what?”
Original practice example
The main message is hard to spot. Could we reduce the intro to one key point?
Peer review, presentation feedback, document review.
Great job nghe vui.
Original practice example
The structure is clear, and the example makes the recommendation easy to follow.
Giving feedback on a presentation, proposal or demo.
Khi nghe You should be more concise, bạn chưa nhất thiết biết người kia đang nói intro, examples hay phần kết luận.
Original practice example
Could you give me an example of where it felt unclear?
Bạn xin evidence/example trước khi giải thích intent. Clarification không đồng nghĩa disagreement.
Receiving vague feedback from a colleague, manager or client.
Viết một clarification question cho feedback “Be more concise”.
Original practice example
Just to make sure I understand: you’d like the intro to focus on one main point, right?
Paraphrase kiểm tra requested change. Hiểu feedback không bắt buộc bạn phải adopt mọi suggested solution.
Closing a feedback loop before responding.
I see the concern. I can shorten the setup, but I’d like to keep the example.
Understand ≠ automatically agree.
Feedback Repair Lab: feedback đang thiếu gì?
You need to be more professional.
Xem diagnosis
Quá broad/personal. Add an OBSERVATION, ví dụ: In the last two slides, the recommendation is mixed with background details.
The intro has three separate points.
Xem diagnosis
Good OBSERVATION; thiếu IMPACT/NEXT MOVE. Add: That makes the main message hard to spot. Could we reduce it to one key point?
Great job.
Xem diagnosis
Positive nhưng vague. Add what worked: The example made the recommendation easy to follow.
You receive: You should be more concise.
Xem next move
CLARIFY. Could you give me an example of where I’m adding too much detail?
Feedback is specific, but you prefer a different fix.
Xem next move
PARAPHRASE → DECIDE. So you’d like the intro to get to the recommendation faster, right? I can shorten the setup, but I’d like to keep the example.
Bốn câu dễ làm feedback nghe sai hoặc gay gắt hơn cần thiết
| Câu gốc | Phân loại | Người nghe hiểu gì | Ý định | Cách tự nhiên hơn | Ghi chú |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Your presentation was very confused. | Grammatically possible with a different/odd meaning; mismatched to intended meaning | Presentation itself sounds “confused”. | Say the presentation caused confusion. | Your presentation was confusing. / I found the structure hard to follow. | Confused normally describes someone experiencing confusion. |
| Can you explain me more? | Wrong complement pattern | Request for clarification is recoverable. | Ask for more explanation. | Can you explain that a bit more? / Can you explain it to me? | Useful pattern: explain the thing to the person. |
| I don’t agree your feedback. | Wrong preposition/complement pattern | Disagreement is clear. | Disagree with feedback. | I don’t agree with that feedback. / I see your point, but I think there’s another option. | Directness can vary with relationship/context. |
| You are not clear. | Grammatically valid but broad/personal and context-dependent | Person’s communication is labelled generally unclear. | Say one part of the work/message was hard to follow. | I found the main point hard to follow in the intro. | Original can fit a broader recurring communication issue, but it is too broad for a single-artifact repair. |
Bài thử: cho feedback rồi đổi ghế
- Nói một OBSERVATION về một work sample.
- Thêm một IMPACT.
- Đề xuất một NEXT MOVE.
- Đổi role thành receiver.
- Hỏi một CLARIFY question.
- PARAPHRASE feedback.
